Introduction
Welcome to Blink ("we," "our," or "us"). We built Blink because we believe your eyes deserve a rest — and we believe your data deserves the same respect.
This Privacy Policy describes how Blink collects, uses, and protects information when you use our iOS application. By downloading and using Blink, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Short version: Blink is designed to work primarily on your device. We collect minimal data, we don't sell it, and we don't share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
Information We Collect
Blink is intentionally minimal in what it collects. Here is a complete picture:
Information stored on your device only:
- Your break session history and streak count
- App settings and preferences (reminder interval, break duration)
- Onboarding completion status
- Notification permission status
Information we may collect:
- Anonymous crash reports and diagnostic data (via Apple's standard crash reporting)
- App performance metrics provided by the App Store (aggregated, non-personal)
- Purchase and subscription status (processed entirely by Apple — we never see payment details)
Information we do NOT collect:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Your location or device location data
- Your camera, microphone, or contacts
- Usage analytics or behavioral tracking
- Any health or biometric data
How We Use Information
The limited information Blink accesses is used solely to provide and improve the app's core functionality:
- Displaying your break history and daily streaks within the app
- Scheduling local notifications to remind you to take breaks
- Restoring your preferences after app updates or reinstallation
- Diagnosing crashes and fixing bugs to improve app stability
- Verifying in-app purchase status to unlock premium features
We do not use any of this information for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties. Ever.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to any third party. We do not share personal information with advertisers or analytics companies.
The only entities that may receive technical information are:
- Apple Inc. — for crash reporting (via Xcode Organizer / TestFlight), App Store analytics, and payment processing via StoreKit. This is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users or the public, but given the nature of the data we hold (essentially none that is personal), this is unlikely to ever be relevant.
Data Retention
All data associated with your app usage is stored locally on your device using iOS's standard user defaults and persistent storage. This data exists only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers (we don't operate servers that store personal data).
You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling Blink from your device. If you reinstall the app, you will start fresh with no prior data.
If iCloud backup is enabled on your device, iOS may include Blink's local data in your device backup. This is controlled entirely by your iOS settings.
Your Rights
Because Blink does not collect personal data on our servers, most traditional data rights (access, correction, portability) are already satisfied by nature — your data lives on your device and is entirely under your control.
Specifically, you have the right to:
- Access your data — it's all visible within the app's Stats and Settings screens
- Delete your data — uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
- Opt out of notifications — disable Blink's notification permissions at any time in iOS Settings
- Opt out of crash reporting — disable "Share iPhone Analytics" in iOS Settings → Privacy → Analytics & Improvements
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), California, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy laws, you may have additional rights. Please contact us at the address below and we will respond promptly.
Children's Privacy
Blink is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app has no features that would require or request such information.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through an update to the app or a notice in the App Store release notes.
The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the most recent revision was made. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of Blink after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
